The image depicted on the TET Offensive items is a medallic artist’s rendition depicting the Battle for the Hue Citadel in 1968. The citadel ruins are in the center, and fires and billowing smoke clouds surrounding the scene.
The Vietnam Tet Offensive Commemorative Medal honors those who served during the Tet Offensive. On January 30, 1968, North Vietnamese forces launched what would become known as the Tet Offensive since it occurred at the time of the Vietnamese New Year, called "Tet". Communist rebels struck in force against cities, towns and villages across South Vietnam, but ultimately it was a military failure for North Vietnam.
