Dodge City, Kansas once had a reputation for being the most wicked town in the Wild West. This lawless, gunslinging town was the setting for the long running radio and TV series Gunsmoke. Gunsmoke was one of the earliest “adult westerns,” centering around the exploits of Marshal Matt Dillon as he dealt with the problems associated with frontier life. The TV show made use of this historic US Deputy Marshal shield for their deputies; the most recognizable being Festus Haggen and Newly O'Brien.
