Connecting Tampa and Miami across the Everglades is the Tamiami Trail. A 264-mile roadway (U.S. Highway 41/State Road 90) that was completed in 1928. In its heyday, the Trail was considered a feat of civil engineering. Prior to the construction of Tamiami Trail, most people navigated South Florida by boat.
