The Afghanistan Commemorative Medal was designed to honor the troops involved in Operation Enduring Freedom from October 7, 2001 to the present, with its mission to dismantle the Al-Qaeda terrorist organization, and wipe out its bases in Afghanistan.
The Front of the medal shows the flag of Afghanistan, surrounded by a ring of black that reads, "Afghanistan Commemorative".
The ribbon has the black, red and green of the Afghan flag flanked on each side by the red, white and blue stripes of the US Flag.
The reverse of the medal reads "Operation Enduring Freedom".
