US Marshal Alaska Territory

U.S. Marshal Alaska Territory Badge story inside the box:

In 1884, law in the rugged Alaska Territory was upheld by Federal Marshals under a U.S. District Judge. At the start of the gold rush there was only one Marshal and ten Deputies. In 1897, Deputy Marshals William C. Watt and James Mark Rowan were the first to be killed in the line of duty. This badge is representative of what they wore.
